After graduating from PHS in 2013, I embarked on an ambitious academic journey at Berea College, where I completed three majors—Computer Science, Mathematics, and Economics—in just four years. The solid foundation I received at PHS, with its unwavering emphasis on critical thinking and intellectual curiosity, was essential in preparing me for this challenge. Yet, my journey was anything but easy. I faced significant financial struggles, often grappling with the harsh reality of not being able to afford food at the cafeteria or basic clothing. But instead of letting these challenges define me, I transformed them into fuel for my ambition, using every obstacle as a stepping stone to reach heights I once thought were unattainable.
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the most prestigious organizations in the world, including NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and NBCUniversal, among others. Throughout my career, I have led engineering teams, architected large-scale software solutions, and contributed to groundbreaking advancements in front-end development, AWS cloud architecture, and scalable applications. My commitment to excellence has empowered me to thrive in high-impact roles and earn industry recognition for my contributions, including being honored with the Piers J. Sellers Award for my work at NASA, where my name is proudly displayed in the Goddard Building 33.
I’ve engaged in a variety of projects, from developing software that supported Red Cross disaster recovery efforts to creating products for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), which enhanced our understanding of the spread of communicable diseases. Additionally, I currently spend long hours working and optimizing products used by millions of people daily, showcasing the profound impact of technology in improving lives and addressing critical challenges.
Reflecting on my journey, I can confidently say that PHS was instrumental in shaping both my character and career trajectory. The friendships I forged and the lessons I learned continue to inspire me, and I am deeply grateful for the strong foundation that has propelled me forward in the ever-evolving world of technology.
